It’s great when we can empower young people’s own initiatives. On 10–12 June we helped the young people, with advice and effort, to visit Ida-Viru County. We learned about oil shale and its mining, and saw with our own eyes the huge footprint that extracting this brown rock has left. Of course there was also some active fun and sightseeing. Everyone also got to experience the local cultural life and meet local young people. The young people wrote the project themselves for the Eduvik programme and secured funding to make this eventful experience happen. It was a great and pure joy to be able to help.
