Poetry competition

Together with the Valjala library, community centre and youth centre we organised a slightly different kind of event. It was far from engines, but sometimes the soul needs to be shown a spanner and one has to look after one’s wellbeing too. In the Sakla community house we held a recital of the poetry competition entries. A good-sized audience was there, and the recital with musical interludes lasted 2 hours. A total of 34 different poets took part in the competition, of whom 22 were women and 12 men. The poems had been written by people aged from ten to 93. It was lovely and a nice little change before the riding season starts. Many thanks also to the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, which supported the event financially.

A trip to the Tallinn Maritime Fair

A project born of young people’s enterprise in cooperation with the Valjala youth centre, in which three young people organised a trip to the Tallinn Maritime Fair, the MOMU motorsport museum and, as a small bonus, to FK Arena to play laser tag. A total of 13 young people aged 10–18 took part. The feedback has been enormously positive, and biggest thanks also to the parents who supported and helped the young people’s project.

Cooperation with the Koeru Education and Culture Society and the Valjala Youth Centre

Together with the Koeru Education and Culture Society and the Valjala Youth Centre, we hosted young people from Koeru on a learning mobility visit for several days with the island’s youth, and shared the good practices we have used in our community to maintain and develop cooperation between generations. Through various activities we acquired several key competences together and developed our ability to cooperate. In addition, while talking we found many new ideas to put into practice and renew.

Many thanks to all our cooperation partners, hosts and the wonderful people who helped, welcomed and supported us.

Thank you very much, everyone 🙂
